This is one of the questions I hear most often.
The truth is, every baby develops differently. Some babies love facing the camera, while others cover their face with their hands, feet, or even the placenta. Sometimes a short walk, changing positions, or drinking water encourages your baby to move. Other times, your little one simply decides it’s nap time—and that’s perfectly normal.
One of the things I always remind parents is that patience is part of the experience.

One of my favorite parts of every appointment is watching parents’ reactions. I’ve seen babies yawn, stretch, smile, suck their thumb, wave, and even make funny facial expressions. Those little moments often become the memories families treasure long after their baby is born.

When Is the Best Time for a 3D or 4D Ultrasound?
While every pregnancy is unique, many parents find that the best time for detailed facial images is between 26 and 33 weeks. During this stage, babies have developed more facial features while still having enough room to move, which often leads to beautiful images.
Of course, every pregnancy is different, and image quality can vary depending on your baby’s position, the amount of amniotic fluid, and other natural factors.
